(Not pictured is Chloe's very tasty "burnt" cheesecake!)

A HUGE THANK YOU goes out to everyone that helped to make our Elementary Track and Field Day a success. We ended up with a beautiful day, and I am so proud of each and every one of our students they did a great job.

Mrs. Schopke's 3rd graders had 14 fluffy chicks join their classroom this week! We sure enjoyed watching them hatch, feeding/watering them, and playing with these cute additions! They will be going to their forever homes today!

The Elm Creek band has had an exciting couple of weekends! On April 20th, four band members attended District Music Contest in Grand Island. Alex Erickson played an alto saxophone solo and received a rating of Superior - great job! In addition, Alex, Aiden Goad, Rose Henry, and Brie Purdy played an original instrumental quartet piece that was written by Brie herself! Their performance not only received a Superior rating, but also a perfect score, as well as an Honorable Mention award from the judge. Outstanding job to these amazing humans!

This past Saturday, on April 27th, some of the 5th and 6th grade band members attended the Nate Metschke Memorial Honor band in Neligh. The 6th graders got the opportunity to publicly debut, for the first time EVER, a new piece called “The Metschke March,” a march piece written by Nolan Schmit, voice of the Cornhusker Marching Band, to honor Nate Metschke, former music teacher at Neligh-Oakdale Public Schools who tragically passed away in 2018. What an awe-inspiring opportunity. They had a blast (even though it was a long day), learned so much from this event, and put on a stellar performance. Awesome job to our elementary band students!
