The ACT is the number one way all of our students can earn academic money from the post-secondary school, training, or certificate program they attend after high school. We encourage all students to begin taking this test at least once a year as early as the ninth grade, and at least twice a year in the tenth and eleventh grade. ACT prep is something we are doing with all students to help them prepare for success. The typical student scores higher every time they take it, so exposure and taking it more only helps. Today, many of you received a pink postcard labeled “Notice of Proposed Tax Increase” from Buffalo County. The valuation used to calculate the tax rate for the school districts was submitted to the postcard printing vendor in error. The valuation submitted to the postcard printing vendor for the school districts should have included the property valuation for the entire school district not just Buffalo County. Corrected postcards will be mailed out in the next few days.

The JH Band is getting ready for Kearney Band Fest on Saturday. The entire Elm Creek Band will play. They start in the parade around 10:15 am in Kearney it will run up Central Avenue to the North. We can’t wait to watch them!!

We sure had fun today playing volleyball for our Homecoming class game! The champions were the Seniors and runner-ups were Juniors! Go Buffs!!

Buffalo County made a mistake in calculating property taxes for school districts with multiple counties. They will be putting out a statement regarding this issue. As soon as we receive the statement from Buffalo County, we will share it through our school website and school app.
Congratulations to our Senior Success Believers and Achievers Award Winners from Elm Creek!! WAY TO GO!!
The Nebraska School Activities Association (NSAA) and Currency are proud to sponsor Believers & Achievers, a state-wide awards program that recognizes Nebraska’s future leaders. Believers & Achievers was designed to reward high school students in Nebraska for their excellence in academics and participation in NSAA activities. Those students who show a commitment to citizenship, school involvement and community projects will be honored in the Believers & Achievers program.
NSAA member schools will be asked to nominate individuals to be honored. From those nominees submitted, Currency and the NSAA will select and honor 48 high school seniors throughout the 2022- 23 academic year. The pictures and profiles of six Believers & Achievers will be featured monthly in the NSAA News on the NSAA website. A poster will be produced and sent to each member high school for display. The 48 individuals selected will be honored with an award at an NSAA Championship contest during the 2022-23 school year. All 48 Believers & Achievers will be invited to attend an end-of-the-year banquet, celebrating their achievements. During the banquet, Currency will announce individual scholarship winners.
