Almost game time!!! Let's GO!!

Dear Elm Creek Students, Staff, and Families,
Today, at approximately 10:00 a.m., the smell of gas was detected in the elementary and the commons area by the main entrance. For the safety of everyone we evacuated the building and called the emergency number for Black Hills Energy. Students and staff relocated to the track area so we could make sure everyone was present and accounted for. At 11:45 we received the all clear from the gas company and returned to the building. At this time the gas is shut off and we are doing a pressure test to ensure safety. We believe the gas leak came from the construction site for the new elementary.
Some points of gratitude:
Thank you to our great students for being so cooperative and flexible.
Staff - you continue to be an amazing strength for us.
Thank you to our preschool families for being flexible with the start of the afternoon session.
We are working on a reunification plan for evaluating and this was a great opportunity to learn where we need to improve.
I am grateful this was not last week during the freezing temperatures. (If it were inclement weather we would have relocated to the Lions Building.)
Last, but definitely not least, everyone is safe.
I hope the rest of the week is less eventful. Please don’t forget that tonight at 7:00 p.m. our boys take the court against McCool Junction for the District Finals.
Thanks everyone and have a great day!
Bret

We are aware of the power outages this morning. Dr. Schroder has been in contact with the Village. The Village is working with NPPD to address the issue. We will keep you all updated. As always our top priority is keeping our students educated, safe and warm
